Running game

The Bills are tough up front on defense and the Dolphins are not going to find it easy to create holes for the running backs. They need to find a way to make lanes and that means creativity. That means pulling guards and off-set motion to pull defenders out of the gaps. It means they also need to figure out a way to keep one or two backs on the field instead of a rotation of hot hands that never get hot.

I like Myles Gaskin but until this season gets further along, I want a more veteran presence handling his job and that is Matt Breida. I want to see Breida push the outside or used in the passing game where his speed and quickness can make plays. I don’t want to see Gaskin getting experience. Not if the Dolphins are hoping to win now.

The same can be said for Jordan Howard who needs to be more decisive but also Chan Gailey needs to keep pounding the ball and wearing down the defense. See how we rotated back to him?

Either way, Miami’s running game needs to start making an appearance. Gailey is a run-oriented OC and his running game sucked last week.

If the Dolphins can do these things they will put themselves in a position to win on Sunday and keep pace in the East. If they can’t, they will be chasing both the Patriots and Bills all season long.
