Miami Dolphins five biggest disappointments through the first four games
By Brian Miller
Jordan Howard was a big free-agent signing for the Miami Dolphins. Thank God it is for only one year.
Is it Jordan Howard’s fault that he isn’t’ more involved or is this what we can expect from a player that was given a two-year $10 million deal? Let’s hope not. The good news that in essence Howard’s deal is a one-year deal with just under $5 million of cap hit. Next year his entire remaining $5 million is recoverable by releasing him.
This may sound harsh but even when Howard has the ball he doesn’t appear to be running with much conviction at all. Yes, there has been blocking assigment misses and has faced some of the leagues top defensive fronts but there has to be something more urgent in how he plays.
The Dolphins hoped that Howard will fill a need the next two season but he is by far being outplayed by Myles Gaskin and Matt Breida who while offering a different skill set should not be the wear-down runners later in the game. That should be Howard and we are not seeing it.
