Ranking the Miami Dolphins active cornerbacks from worst to best
Xavien Howard
Welcome back, Xavien Howard! After having a different knee injury in almost every season of his career and being remarkably expensive, there were questions about Howard’s future with the Miami Dolphins. There were even trade rumors flowing out of Miami on Tuesday, but appear to be false. The Dolphins appear to be ready to move forward with both of their star cornerbacks on the roster.
After a slightly bumpy start to the season, Xavien Howard is back to form. He has an interception in four consecutive games. Outside of a tough matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, Howard has been excellent. With Byron Jones back, the Dolphins cornerback duo is ready to be the frightening sight that they expected earlier this year.
It’s hard to call Xavien Howard, the “second best” cornerback on the team. However, that is how the Miami Dolphins choose to live. Flores loves his defensive backs and will always build his defense around them. Defensive coordinator Josh Boyer also has an extensive history coaching defensive backs.
Howard is back to being the best ball hawk in the NFL and looks to secure even more interceptions than he had in his ridiculous 2018 season. With Jones and Howard, the Dolphins can terrorize opposing offenses and force quarterbacks to stay in the middle of the field.
