Ted Karras has played well for the Miami Dolphins at center this year but they will likley look to upgrade the position.

The Dolphins signed Ted Karras as a free agent and he has started since week one. The offensive line is playing the best it has in years but that doesn’t mean the impending free agent will be back next season.

Miami could turn to the draft or add another free agent and look to save some cap space, not that they need it. The Dolphins could also look to move one of their other players over to the position to fill the hole.

Karras is interesting though because he could very easily come back on another one-year deal and hold the spot down while Miami works to develop another center for the long term. At $3 million this year, Karras is a bargain for a starting center and Karras may look to make himself available to the market to gauge his financial options which again, could include a return to the Dolphins.

Karras is 28 years old an will turn 29 by this time next year obviously. The Dolphins have been pushing to get younger and that too could be working against his long-term future with the Dolphins but then again, Karras was never a long-term solution to the position.
