The Secondary

The Miami Dolphins secondary continues to operate as a singular unit.

Honestly, I wanted to name Xavien Howard after his game-changing, momentum stealing interception that led to the proverbial nail in the Chargers coffin. His INT would translate to a Dolphins touchdown.

The problem that I have is that while Howard’s INT was a big part of the Dolphins win, he also gave up a couple of big plays including a touchdown but even that wasn’t a major deal. Truth be told, Howard stands out because of the INT but the rest of the secondary were just as impressive.

Nik Needham had four tackles and a couple of them were stops in front of the first down marker. Needham was playing well on Sunday and seemed to be all over the field. So not mentioning him wouldn’t be fair because his impact was just as noteworthy as Howard’s.

That same can be said for Byron Jones who broke up a pass in the endzone, as well as Brandon Jones who quietly made plays without hearing his name mentioned all that much. Byron had three tackles, while Brandon posted a combined five. The rookie continues to get better.

Of course, going a week without mentioning Eric Rowe these days would be silly. Rowe again had a good game and posted six tackles.
