5 things we learned the Miami Dolphins desperately need

Receiver is a big position of need for the Miami Dolphins.

Losing Albert Wilson and Allen Hurns didn’t seem like a big deal back in July but looking at the Dolphins receiver group now, it is clear that the Dolphins could use their help. Miami’s receivers are not good. Preston Williams is out which doesn’t help and while Jakeem Grant can be electric, he is inconsistent week to week. Outside of DeVante Parker, the Dolphins don’t have another go-to receiver.

Next year, Miami needs to make WR a priority in the draft or at the very least free agency if not both. Tua Tagovailoa needs more weapons and this Lynn Bowden/Malcolm Perry type system isn’t working. Both of those players are almost identical in skill set but neither are making the team better. Granted they are young but these are speciality players and dare I say, gimmick type players. Miami needs straight line talent that will open the field and routes while challenging the defense. No one on the Dolphins roster is doing that right now.

Winning masks a lot of these problems and we tend to be thrilled when we see Miami racking up 30 plus points in a game but how many of those drives were the results of great receiver play? Miami has good receivers but they need at least one great one opposite Parker and they need to find a slot receiver. This is where Wilson is missed the most because Grant is too inconsistent to handle it and be productive each week.
