4. Mike Gesicki

5 targets/ 4 receptions/ 43 receiving yards

This was one of Gesicki’s better games of the season, with most of his action coming late once Fitzpatrick came onto the field.

Prior to Fitzpatirck taking the field, Gesicki had a statline of 2 catches for 12 yards off of 2 targets with Tagovailoa. With Fitzpatrick, Gesicki started off with a 25-yard catch, and would go on to add another catch of six yards.

Gesicki was expected to see an increase in targets when Williams and Gaskin went down, but the third year tight end and the rookie quarterback have yet to get on the same page. If, and hopefully when, the two can start producing together, it will allow Tagovailoa to have one of the more athletic receiving tight ends in all of football.

In terms of fantasy, the Jets have been an easy matchup against tight ends on the season. However, outside of Kansas City Chiefs Travis Kelce and San Francisco 49er’s George Kittle, the Jets have been able to keep most tight ends under clamps. Kelce has been the only tight end to have over 100 receiving yards and they have allowed only 7 touchdowns to tight ends on the season. Since tight ends are a position that has less studs and more duds, these stats are intriguing.

If Gesicki is able to catch Tagovailoa’s eyes more, expect him to have a relatively big day.
