Chazz Surratt’s high football IQ and nose for the ball makes him a Miami Dolphins prospect to keep an eye on.

Round 3 Pick 80

UNC LB Chazz Surratt

The former quarterback turned linebacker has a great nose for the football and is a tackle machine. Being a former quarterback Surratt also has an extremely high football IQ, a valuable skill set for a middle linebacker.

Similar to Wilson, Surratt should be able to help immediately to counter the run game. His high IQ and nose for the football will have him flowing to the ball and making plays. I also believe come draft time Surratt will be moving up draft boards thanks to two years of playing linebacker at a high level for Mack Brown’s Tar Heels.

However, if fans are looking for the Phins to fill the linebacker position, Surratt is a name that should be at the top of the wish list. He profiles as a smaller Luke Kechuly, who if he can be half the player Kechuly was, will have a great NFL career.

Round 4 Pick 119

Northern Iowa EDGE Elerson Smith

I’ll be honest, I was unfamiliar with Smith prior to this mock draft. But after reading different profiles on him and watching some tape, he is a Brian Flores defensive player from top to bottom.

First his size, Smith is a whopping 6’7” 245 LBs. He is elite size for the EDGE position and that alone holds on it’s own. But what makes him more impressive? He can shift into a 3-4 LB if needed.

In a Brian Flores defense versatility is key, and Smith can learn under Kyle Van Noy and eventually take over that spot, or even rotate into it.

Smith will be a name to keep an eye on during the draft process as COVID-19 has complicated small school scouting, but he will have a fit in the NFL and hopefully it’s in Brian Flores’ defense.
