If the Miami Dolphins want an edge rusher, Bud Dupree could be their guy.

Linebacker Bud Dupree will miss the rest of the year with a torn ACL but as we have seen in the past, injuries of that nature take a lot less time to heal than they used to. It may be a good thing for a team like the Dolphins who may have to pay a lot more if he were healthy.

Dupree is a good pass rusher but not elite. He is coming off his rookie contract. His loss to the Steelers will be felt as he has been productive in their defensive scheme. He is versatile and plays with a high motor. He could be a lot better in the Brian Flores defensive scheme.

The good: Still young and has a growth ceiling he hasn’t met yet. Could be electric in the Dolphins defensive scheme and is a solid tackler. He doesn’t quit and plays tough.

The bad: Even with the injury is going to be expensive and could be looking at an $80-90 million deal. Edge rushers are expensive and while Dupree hasn’t lit up the statistical lines, he is still disruptive.

Dolphins need: There is no question that Miami needs more consistency off the edge. Emmanuel Ogbah has been very good for the Dolphins but he could use another partner on the opposite side that can create a pocket collapse.
