Northern Iowa’s Elerson Smith has the ability to be the latest in Miami Dolphins late round steals.

Round 6 Pick 184

Kentucky OT Landon Young

Young was a pick made because he was best available on the board and fills a team need. The addition of the former Kentucky Wildcat can give the Dolphins additional depth at the offensive line.

With injuries plaguing a team like the Dallas Cowboys, who had an elite line just two years ago, it should be a cautionary tale to always have depth and players you can trust to play in the event of injury. Young can fill this depth role if needed or even play as part of a jumbo set.

Round 6 Pick 190

LSU Safety JaCoby Stevens

Similar to Young, Stevens is yet another depth piece. Stevens main role, however, would most likely come as a special teams ace.

While he could become another Walt Aikens, it could pay off learning from Eric Rowe, Bobby McCain, and even Brandon Jones. But, if he does end up becoming nothing more than a special teams ace, that’s already a valuable piece.

Round 7 Pick 220

Northern Iowa EDGE Elerson Smith

Smith is a player I covered in a previous mock draft and fell to like his fit on the Dolphins defense. With his towering size, 6’7” 245lbs, Smith is a massive player that has the length the play at the EDGE position.

However, Smith is also capable of playing outside linebacker, if he is able to cover as well, Smith would be a valuable and versatile player that Flores loves from his player and especially his linebackers.
