Surratt could be the next great linebacker under Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores

Round 2 Pick 54

UNC LB Chazz Surratt

A smart, instinctual linebacker that has a nose for the football and the football IQ of a quarterback on the defensive side of the ball seems all too perfect for a Brian Flores coached defense. Heading into the teams final game of the season, a matchup against Texas A&M in the Orange Bowl at Hard Rock Stadium, Surratt needs 9 tackles in order to have consecutive 100 tackle seasons at North Carolina.

The most impressive part is the fact that Surratt has only played linebacker for two seasons. With that in mind, it could be harmful to his draft stock that he’s only played the position for two seasons, but with one game left in his college career he’s had a career with 207 tackles, 6 passes defended, 12.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 2 interceptions.

Being all over the field is simply a part of Surratt’s game and his ability to play well against the rush, cover, and get to the quarterback are what would make him a vital piece to the Dolphins spectacular defense.

Another part that could make Surratt intriguing is the fact that he could be the Dolphins emergency quarterback, if a situation similar to the Denver Broncos were to happen. But with the hope that the COVID-19 pandemic is under check by next season, It would be difficult to imagine this ever occurring.
