Miami Dolphins address key needs in end of season 6-round mock draft

Smith gives Brian Flores a project EDGE to turn great for the Miami Dolphins.
Round 6 Pick 187
Northern Iowa EDGE Elerson Smith
As I said before, getting to the quarterback is one of, if not the most important thing outside of protecting the quarterback. Seeing how vital the trenches are?
If you’ve kept up with my mock drafts, Smith is another name that I frequently mock to the Dolphins for obvious reasons. At 6’7” 245-lbs, Smith is a massive human being who accumulated 14.0 sacks in his junior season in 2019.
His biggest knock is he has no new film in 2020, but if he declares for the draft the assumption is he’s been working during his year.
Going back to that no film in 2020, I’ve had major issues finding any film of Smith during his time at Northern Iowa. Outside of a piece produced by the school, it seems as though they’re trying to hide this diamond in the rough.
From that school produced piece, his head coach said he has improved every season, gotten bigger and faster, and has a knack for getting to the quarterback while being a leader of the defense. If that doesn’t sound like a Brian Flores type football player, then I guess I must be following the wrong football team.
Smith will more than likely be a project, but if he pans out, the Dolphins could have a special player on their hands.
