The Miami Dolphins could draft Tua’s former center to fill the position

Round 3 Pick 82

Alabama IOL Landon Dickerson

Nick Saban allowing Dickerson to come into the end of the National Championship to close out his collegiate career speaks volumes of who Dickerson is. To simplify it, he won the Rimmington award in 2020 as the top center in college football.

Many have Humphrey as their top center on the board, but Dickerson should not be far behind. He was the anchor for the clear best offense in the country and has been extremely important for them the past two seasons. It could come down to a situation to see who is a better pro, but Humphrey was better in his career compared to Dickerson.

He may not be Humphrey, but Dickerson has something that Humphrey does not have on his resume going into the NFL draft. Dickerson has more experience with left handed quarterbacks. To be more precise, he has experience snapping to the current Dolphins starting quarterback.

Being former Alabama teammates with Tagovailoa is a common theme in this draft to be selected, but chemistry matters and it’s important at every level. This won’t cut any corners or give him any advantage when it comes to being named the starter, but it’s a step in the right direction and one less lesson that will need to be taught. Communication should also be clearer from day one.

With Ted Karras looking at free agency, this draft pick could allow the Dolphins to let Karras walk and add a cheaper alternative.
