The Miami Dolphins have the third overall pick and could become very valuable.

What the Miami Dolphins can do with the third overall pick will heavily depend on what the rest of the NFL does in terms of the players we mentioned in slide one. If top players move around, there will be less of a chance that the Dolphins find a trade partner that is looking for a QB.

If we look at the Lions, we can’s summarily discount them as a trade partner. While they could look to draft a future QB, they could also look to draft a player like Penie Sewell who could anchor the line and protect Jared Goff.

Atlanta – Regardless of whether Ryan is traded or not the Falcons should be in the market for a QB and if they believe the Dolphins could trade out of three to a team wanting one, they could jump ahead of Miami or trade with Miami to move up one spot. Unlikely but something to keep an eye on.

Indianapolis – The Colts will need to so something and I believe they will get involved within the trade market but if they can’t swing a deal for a top QB then we could look at a trade involving the 18th overall pick should a QB be there. It would be too costly for the Colts to move up to three overall.

Denver – The Broncos pick at 9 and that could be a good enough spot for the Dolphins to drop to if the offer from Denver is good enough. They would really need a QB though to make that move and I don’t think they need one that bad, this year.

Carolina – Picking in the 8th spot, the Panthers could move up to three but will they abandon Bridgewater this early after signing him last year? Maybe not.

Dallas – Hard to know what the Cowboys will do but Jerry Jones isn’t one to sit around. If he can’t get Prescott under a new contract and can’t swing a trade for a quarterback who can start and win, he will look to draft one and may need to move up to do it.

San Francisco – The 49ers have Jimmy G. for now but a trade that sends him out leaves a hole. The 49ers have plenty of draft capital to move up from 12 if they want to.
