Miami adds an impact linebacker to a near elite defense

18th overall, Miami Dolphins

LB. Tulsa. ZavenCollins. player. Pick Analysis. 59. Scouting Report. 18

The Tulsa linebacker had one of the best seasons for a defender of any during the 2020 College football season. The truth is, he had the best one winning the award for top college football defender in 2020. The Dolphins are in need of a linebacker next to Jerome Baker and Collins could be that guy.

With Elandon Roberts more than likely hitting free agency, the team will need to make an addition to replace him. With Brian Flores at the helm, it is safe to say the team feels comfortable drafting and developing linebackers.

With a defense that is seemingly near elite after a major improvement from 2019 to 2020, the team could be a few young pieces away from being among the best of the best.

Collins could bring his nose for the football and impact playmaking to South Florida and give the team a linebacker that could also make Baker look highly improved.

If the team opts to go another way, it could go for one of the remaining offensive lineman, or even take a running back at 18 or trade back.

No matter what the Dolphins decide here, it’s a bonus having two first round selections.
