Pick 81 – Michael Carter, Running Back UNC

Carter would be an incredibly interesting pick in this spot, especially considering that Miami already took a running back earlier on. Hear me out, though.

As mentioned by Garrett Stepien on 247sports, Brian Flores was impressed by Carter’s talent at the Senior Bowl. This report should put Carter immediately on everyone’s “Miami Dolphins Big Board.”

If Miami continues to target offensive players at this point in the draft, Carter could be one of the best players on the board, and if Flores already likes what he saw, he may pull the trigger and round out the running back room. The Dolphins could go with another receiver here if one is on the board that they love.

Yet, Carter makes sense here. This would give Miami three quality running backs that could help take the pressure off of Tua Tagovailoa and build the strongest running game in the NFL. Carter could be a steal at this spot in the draft, given that he has the skillset to be a dominant player in the NFL and has less wear on the tires since he ran beside Javonte Williams at UNC.

Unfortunately for Myles Gaskin, the selection of Carter may mean that he is the odd man out in this rotation. As much as I liked Gaskin and what he did for this team last season, though, if Carter can be as dangerous as he was at UNC, Miami would be unstoppable on the ground.
