Former quarterback turned linebacker has the IQ to play for Flores and the Miami  Dolphins.

The former UNC quarterback turned linebacker displays a high fight IQ and has a nose for the football that coaches look for in linebackers.

Surratt has only played linebacker for two seasons, his last two at North Carolina, but in those two seasons he accumulated 206 total tackles in those years combined. Agile, strong, and smart, Surrat plays the positions like he knows what is happening on the field at all times.

In a Flores coach defense, Surratt and Baker would work nicely together. Both exhibit good lateral movement and attack the ball.It also helps that the Dolphins possess a strong interior offensive line that allows linebackers to come up and a pass rush that does their job fairly well.

My biggest question, and something I would have to go in and check on, is Surratt’s coverage abilities. It is easy to come up and attack the run as an inside linebacker, but in Flores’ defense where the inside linebackers cover it will be a major selling point.

Surratt’s IQ and athleticism makes him an interesting piece, and with Flores as his head coach he’ll be able to pick the mind of a coach that has coached many interesting linebackers.
