Scouting Report. Linebacker. LSU. 36. Pick Analysis. JabrilCox. player. 59

Jabril Cox has an indefinite motor from the time he steps on the field until the game is over. He reminds me of a more athletic Channing Crowder, a player who can cover well but he does suffer against the run making him a situational linebacker and that may be too high for the Dolphins to consider him.

When he is at his best, Cox can cover tight ends and slot guys well. His biggest problem is contact where he struggles to get off blocks but he won’t have to play upon the line. Miami would be able to use Cox all over the defense to put him in a better position to make plays. His quickness and mobility are important and he has a very good vision that allows him to track the ball across the field. He uses his speed to close gaps and make plays.

Cox wanted to prove himself more at the college level and left North Dakota State after two stellar seasons where he won rookie awards and conference awards in his 2nd year. He jumped to LSU his junior year and did well enough to open NFL eyes in the SEC.

The Dolphins need linebacker help but will they go edge with Rousseau and then linebacker early in round two? That isn’t so certain. The Dolphins could look at Creed Humphrey instead.
