The University of Central Florida has turned out some nice pro football players over the years and safety Richie Grant is starting to get some more recognition. His value started as a third or fourth-round prospect but now he seems to be destined to go in the mid to late-round two.

This is a perfect situation for the Dolphins who could use some more help at safety and if the Dolphins part ways with Bobby McCain this off-season, the need will be even larger.

Miami’s defense is such that is uses versatility and safety plays a big role in that. Miami has Eric Rowe, McCain, and Brandon Jones who was drafted last year, there is more than enough room for Grant with our without McCain or Rowe.

Grant projects as a free safety at the NFL level but he has played in the box, over the top, in the slot, and as a split safety. In other words, he has the versatility and the physicality to play in Brian Flores’ system. In addition, he has great vision, good closing speed, and solid ball skills.

Other potentials: Linebacker Jabril Cox and Brandon Browning were still on the board
