Miami Dolphins might need to look at the draft to solve the hole at the EDGE position

The Dolphins will need to make a splash at the EDGE positions after cutting Kyle Van Noy and trading Shaq Lawson. The addition of McKinney will allow them to play him at both Van Noy’s old spot or plugged in next to Jerome Baker. Regardless the team will need to add an EDGE defender.

In the draft the team will have options, especially having two first-rounders. Trading back from third overall and selecting between picks eight to possible 12, the team could target former Hurricane Gregory Rousseau or Michigan’s Kwity Paye. With the 18th pick, the team would likely be able to choose between another former Hurricane Jaelan Phillips, Georgia’s Azeez Ojulari, or Penn State’s Jayson Oweh.

In free agency, the team could look at Takkarist McKinley, Jadeveon Clowney, or Carlos Dunlap, but realistically the team will likely need to add an elite draft prospect.

The team should be comfortable with Emmanuel Ogbah, who led the team in sacks in 2021, as their main pass rusher. However, if the team is able to secure both Andrews and Golladay in free agency, EDGE becomes the team’s main priority in the draft and we could see the Phins take two at the position come April.
