Miami Dolphins top remaining defensive edge options

Miami Dolphins look west to add an impact pass rusher
Similar to Clowney, Melvin Ingram was hurt for most of the 2020 NFL season. In seven games the former first-round pick out of South Carolina compiled 0 sacks.
To say it wasn’t a tough season for the Los Angeles Chargers wouldn’t be fair, but letting Ingram walk shows they’re moving in a new direction. Ingram, who had five straight seasons with at least 7 sacks, has appeared in three Pro-Bowls straight and was a staple to some pretty impressive Chargers defenses from 2016-2019.
Shadowed by Joey Bosa, who is the better football player, Ingram was still an impact player prior to his injury-riddled 2020. However, due to COVID and the lowered salary cap, Ingram might be another player who would benefit from a one-year “prove it” deal. If he can prove he is worth another contract, the 31-year old Ingram could see a nice payday in 2022.
Quite similar to Clowney, Ingram would fit in the Dolphins defense and be an impactful pass rusher on an already impressive front-7 missing another EDGE. The key here is that Ingram would need to stay healthy, but if he does he has proven he can get to the quarterback.
