Miami addresses their need at EDGE by staying local

Scouting Report. Gregory Rousseau. 18. player. 59. Pick Analysis. EDGE. Miami (FL)

The top EDGE prospect in the draft stays home in South Florida to play for the hometown Miami Dolphins. The Hurricanes star defensive end opted out of the 2020 college football season due to COVID-19.

Even without playing in 2020, the former Hurricane star remains the top EDGE player in the draft. He remains at the top thanks in large part to his major frame, 6-foot-7, 265 Lbs, and his insane 15.5 sack season in 2019.

Rousseau does an impressive job of using his frame and mixing it with a good combination of power and speed to get after the quarterback. In addition, he proved he can go up against top-flight offensive lineman playing in a good ACC and having a two-week stretch with 7 total sacks.

For the Dolphins, the team has addressed multiple areas of need, wideout, and center, but now needs to address the EDGE. With not many top-flight EDGE players left in free taking the top one in the draft would be great for Chris Grier and Brian Flores.

The Dolphins would walk away from the first night of the draft with Greg Rousseau, Devonta Smith, the 39th overall pick, and an additional 2022 first and second-rounder. Grier and Flores would be making Dolphins fans extremely happy, even if they aren’t major fans of the selections.
