Miami Dolphins 7 Round mock following morning Trades

Miami Dolphins add depth on Day Three of the draft
Elerson Smith is a player that has impressed me this season and could be a late-round steal for any team that takes him. At 6-foot-7, 245-pounds, Smith is large and lean and used his long frame to get to the quarterback in 2019. Since Northern Iowa did not have a fall football season, the last time Smith played, prior to the Senior Bowl, was in 2019 where he accounted for 14 sacks.
Smith equally impressed at the Senior Bowl and would be a solid addition to Miami’s defense but mainly special teams in his rookie season.
In the seventh round, the Dolphins are likely looking to add depth and special team contributors. Riley Cole would provide both. As the leader of the South Alabama defense, Cole compiled 96 tackles and 2.0 sacks in 2020.
He may not jump off the table, but he should earn a role on Brian Flores’ team.
The Dolphins brought in Jacoby Brissett on a one-year deal to back up Tua Tagovailoa this season. It would be smart for the team to add another quarterback late in the draft for a cheap option and a player that could possibly back Tagovailoa up in 2022.
Book isn’t my favorite quarterback in this draft, probably not in my top-10 either, but being the best available and having played for the Dolphins staff at the Senior Bowl is encouraging. Book will have time to learn how to be a professional football player and will not be forced into any immediate action.
