Peter Schrager has released his mock draft and has the Miami Dolphins taking Rashawn Slater with the sixth overall pick in this month’s draft.

Slater is one of the top offensive linemen in this year’s draft. Some believe he has more upside than Penei Sewell. While the difference between the two is surely starting to narrow, Sewell remains the top tackle. For now.

In his mock, Schrager is making a big and bold prediction but it is just a mock draft. It stands out as one that at least isn’t following the Sewell, Kyle Pitts, DeVonta Smith, and Ja’Marr Chase mocks.

So our question is this. Does this make sense for the Miami Dolphins?

On the surface drafting Slater is a horrible idea at six but if the Dolphins view him as a better tackle than Sewell who Schrager has being drafted two picks after Miami, then why should they not take him there? It’s not a popular opinion and some of the comments to Schrager’s mock have been quite interesting.

The mock draft is making quite an impression on Dolphins fans to say the least. Of course, this is the time of year when fans begin to fall in love with a certain player and lose focus on what the Dolphins may or may not be trying to do. The Dolphins are incredibly coy about what their plans are. In March, it was believed the Dolphins would go hard for a receiver and linebacker but they spent the early days taking a backseat.

The Dolphins may or may not be taking a tackle early in this draft but given the fact they spent a first-round pick on a tackle last year and two more draft picks on offensive linemen early, it would be surprising to see them give up on them after one season.

With the 18th pick, Schrager has Miami drafting Najee Harris.
