Miami could go running back or EDGE at 18

Round 1 Pick 18

Top options: Najee Harris, Gregory Rousseau, Jalean Phillps, Teven Jenkins

At pick 18 the Dolphins should still have multiple great options on the table. Among them are the top-ranked running back in the draft, Harris, the two best EDGE rushers, Rousseau and Phillips, and a rising offensive tackle prospect in Jenkins.

Harris, who is viewed by many as the top running back in the draft, would be able to split carries early on with Myles Gaskin. Similar to Jonathan Taylor for the Indianapolis Colts, Harris would excel as the season goes on and the Dolphins begin to rely on him more and more.

If the Dolphins chose to go EDGE here there are multiple good first-round options but none might be better than Rousseau or Phillips. Rousseau and Phillips both had major seasons in Miami in 2019 and 2020 respectively. Both also tested great on their pro days, however, one major issue for both would be the lack of multiple productive seasons as well as an injury-riddled past for Phillips. Miami needs to make up for the loss of production after moving on from Shaq Lawson and Kyle Van Noy during the offseason.

Teven Jenkins would be a good option for the Dolphins if they want to take a high-level right tackle. He was a highly productive player during his tenure at Oklahoma State and has only become a more popular prospect during the offseason.
