Round 2 Pick 36
Top options: Landon Dickerson, Creed Humphrey, Javonte Williams
For the past two seasons, the Dolphins have signed veterans centers to one-year deals to anchor the offensive line. In 2019 that signing was Ted Karras and this season the team will have Matt Skura at the center position. If the team wants to, and it should, look for a long-term answer at the position then their first pick in the second should be used to solve the issue. This draft has two very good centers at the top in Oklahoma’s Creed Humphrey and Alabama’s Landon Dickerson.
Humphrey is viewed by many as the best center in the draft and excels as both a pass and run blocker. Over his time at Oklahoma, he has snapped for Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, and Spencer Rattler. Landon Dickerson on the other hand spent a season snapping for current Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagoviloa and has experience snapping with a left-handed quarterback.
If the Dolphins want to answer the running back position in the second round Javonte Williams would be the best move at this point. Williams is smaller compared to Najee Harris, but he runs with power and speed while also having amazing vision out of the backfield.
The Dolphins made a mistake waiting to draft a running back last season, the team should not make that same mistake in this year’s draft after not signing an impact running back.
