Rashawn Slater is another left tackle prospect that has really done well over the last month to improve his draft stock. Slater is considered to be a better tackle prospect than Sewell but again, he isn’t going to get fans jumping up and down.

Any offensive lineman taken this early will not appease the majority of fans who want a ball handler. Our first question might be why would the Dolphins choose Slater over Sewell. We can go back to the question we posed on the Sewell slide. That is the left tackle spot.

Slater played his first two seasons with the Wildcats at right tackle where he was very good. He transitioned to left tackle for a year and then opted out last season. If the Dolphins are looking to add an offensive lineman at pick 6, I would bet money that it will be Slater before it will be Sewell. He simply fits better for what the Dolphins actually need.

While Slater may make a lot of sense, don’t expect fans to be jumping up and down. The Dolphins could probably draft him a few spots later and this may allow the Dolphins to make another trade that gives them more draft capital. Slater at 6 makes no sense but Slater at 9 does. The question is will he be there?
