The Miami Dolphins may or may not think their running back unit is good enough to complete the roster as is but these five rookies could surely help.

Everyone is hoping that Miami will bring a top running back to the team this year but who are the best five should Miami want to improve the position?

Many believe that Najee Harris is the top running back and while he surely has the college resume, others believe that Travis Etienne is the better prospect. For me, neither would be my first choice and I would pass on one in round one.

Harris isn’t a bad choice by any stretch but for me, the two top running backs that I would want Miami to draft won’t come until round two at the earliest.

I like Javonte Williams a lot in this draft and his stock has risen to somewhere between early 2nd to mid-late second. At least that is the speculation. I also really like Michael Carter and think that the Dolphins could have him in the 3rd or 4th round. He is a very good running back prospect and is a good receiver but doesn’t carry the same name recognition in part due to the fact he played college ball at North Carolina alongside Williams.

The good news is that Miami has options and they can’t go wrong with either of those two and if they see Travis Etienne of Clemson or Harris out of Bama they will get much better offensively. It’s a matter of taste and who fits in with the two-headed offensive coordinator system that Miami is going to run this year.

Last on my list would be Trey Sermon of Ohio State. It is expected that he will get drafted somewhere between rounds three and five. He could go late in the 3rd but if Miami sees him as a value, they could use a 4th round pick. Miami has had success with mid-round running backs.
