The Miami Dolphins traded out of three to 12 then back up to six but in his latest mock draft, Mel Kiper has the Dolphins moving up, again.

The Dolphins may have someone in mind that they can’t live without but if that was the case, why did they move out of three to begin with? Are they getting antsy, worried, or having regrets? Nope, this is just a mock draft and aside from Kiper, no one has the Dolphins making a move up in the draft.

Kiper has the Dolphins selecting Kyle Pitts. A player that they could potentially land by staying put at six. Recent speculation around the league has the Falcons showing interest in the tight end but they are also entertaining trade offers. That says, to me, their interest in Pitts is secondary to moving out of four and drafting someone else.

Kiper’s mock is behind a paywall so we can’t see what the Dolphins are giving up for him. It’s not 100% out of the question and if the Dolphins did move up to four they essentially traded back one spot but what might they still have left over from their initial deal with the 49’ers?

Miami has a lot of needs and trading up two spots from six doesn’t make a lot of sense even for Kyle Pitts. The offer would have to be special in terms of a low return to Atlanta.

Then again, if they walked out of this draft with Kyle Pitts, Ja’Marr Chase, or anyone else that they have wanted and added another first-round pick in the process, it would be hard to look at all their trading as a waste.
