Opinion: The top 3 players the Miami Dolphins should draft at 6

I was torn between going with DaVonta Smith here over Parsons. Smith is an outstanding playmaker who I loved in the days after the College Football Playoff. Yet, I felt it wouldn’t be fair to go with a receiving threat with each of these picks.

There could also be an argument for Penei Sewell, too, but he isn’t rated as one of my “favorite” players.

In comes Micah Parsons.

Because of the run on quarterbacks that many are predicting in this year’s first round, Miami would be in a great position to get a top talent at both of their first round pick slots. One of those players may be Parsons, who has seen his draft stock take a tumble in the last few months. He started out being consistently mocked in the top 5 of the draft but, because of the premium on quarterbacks and some questions about off the field issues, Parsons has fallen and should be available to Miami at number 6.

While the off the field concerns are still being ironed out, if Miami did take Parsons at 6 overall, they would be getting a dynamic playmaker on defense that could slot into a starting spot right away. Parsons is not an immediate need for the team, considering they traded for Bernardrick McKinney and resigned Elandon Roberts. Neither of these players, however, are long term solutions and Parsons could help this defense continue to develop and become stronger as a unit.
