The Miami Dolphins have traded the 6th overall pick to the Denver Broncos. The Broncos see an opportunity to draft their quarterback to compete with Drew Lock. Miami receives a 2nd round pick this year, the 9th overall pick, and a future high draft pick.

On the board when Miami was selecting was DeVonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle, and Penei Sewell but Kyle Pitts and Ja’Marr Chase were off the board. The Dolphins feel they can still move down and land one of the two top receivers remaining.

With the pick at six, the Broncos draft their QB. Doesn’t really matter who but depending on how the first picks play out, the Broncos will likely take Justin Fields or Trey Lance with this selection.

The Dolphins will have to wait for the Detroit Lions and the Carolina Panthers to select before they are on the clock again.

In this mock, the Detroit Lions, needing wide receiver help have elected to draft DeVonta Smith of Alabama. This move leaves only one top WR left on the board. The Carolina Panthers trade out of the 8th spot with the L.A. Chargers who need OT and want to jump in front of Miami. The Chargers take Penei Sewell.
