The Miami Dolphins get one of the best edge defenders in the 2021 NFL Draft.

I think what I like most about the first four picks of my final mock is that I have a great little flow of offense, defense, offense, and then defense going. I have been guilty of mocking a heavy dose of offense to Miami on the first four picks, but I think this class is deep on offense, so adding some defenders early makes a ton of sense.

And it is Brian Flores’ team, so let’s not act like he isn’t bugging Chris Grier to get him some studs on defense.

That is what Miami does with the 40th overall pick, which was acquired from trading back from pick 6 to pick 9. I think that adding a pick in this year’s draft would be so beneficial, mainly because there are likely going to be 5-6 quarterbacks taken in the first round. That will allow some players to slide a bit in the draft, and Miami gets one here at pick 40.

Former Texas edge defender Joseph Ossai has been a popular pick for me in mock draft season, and it’s because I love his fit in this defense. I think Flores loves him too, just by watching the way he plays the game. He flies around the field and has a great motor. He will give you A+ effort on every play, and not only can he get after the passer, but he will be a great run defender in the NFL as well.

Ossai is 6-3, 256 pounds, and he ran a 4.63 40-yard dash and had a 41.5 inch vertical at his Pro Day. He is an insane athlete at the position and could be a starter on defense from Day 1.
