The Miami Dolphins find their center of the future at pick 50.

Miami’s biggest hole on their roster, the center position, still remains. That is why on Day 2 of the 2021 NFL Draft, they need to fill it. They could try waiting until pick 81 in the 3rd round to fill the hole, but I do not think they should take that risk.

Miami needs to secure their future center, and that is why I have them taking former DIII offensive lineman Quinn Meinerz.

Miami signed Matt Skura to a one-year deal, and he could be a great mentor for Meinerz in year 1. Meinerz can also play guard, which is what he played in college, so he has the versatility that Miami will love.

Meinerz did not play in 2020, and that wasn’t because of an opt-out. His college season was canceled at Wisconsin-Whitewater, so Meinerz could not showcase his elite skill set. However, after a late call to play in the Senior Bowl, Meinerz put on a show. Meinerz showed he belongs with the big dogs, and he is one of the big dogs and maybe even the top dog at center in the draft.

Meinerz told me that it would be awesome to be reunited with the Dolphins, who coached him in the Senior Bowl. Meinerz said if the Dolphins drafted him, “I would definitely text coach Lem (Lemuel Jeanpierre) right away and say, ‘Hey, back to work!'”

Well, let’s hope he sends that text today and becomes the Miami Dolphins new center at pick 50.
