The Miami Dolphins did a good job filling their roster needs
By Nick Belotto
Both of Miami’s seventh-round selections were about adding long-term depth at their positions.
Larnel Coleman is an athletic big man who can develop into a solid backup with proper training from this coaching staff. He could potentially be a backup at guard and tackle, which doesn’t’ t necessarily address Miami’s lingering issue on the interior of the line, but a backup in round 7 isn’t a terrible pick.
Doaks is a bigger back, who has good size and decent speed. He isn’t going to be a home-run threat, but he could be a consistent contributor as a third-down back, taking some carries from Malcolm Brown, if he can show the coaching staff his talent in the offseason. He will have to work on catching the ball out of the backfield and demonstrating better vision, but the potential, similar to Coleman, is there.
With these two picks, Miami rounded out a great 2021 NFL Draft. They added a ton of guys with versatility and quality tape that can make impact on this roster. The rebuild of this team is just about over and the Miami Dolphins should be in a great position to start making waves in the playoffs.
