The Miami Dolphins are so stacked at wide receiver right now that any day will inevitably bring a cut to create cap space, but then again, maybe not.

Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald is saying that the Dolphins have recently informed some veterans to plan on arriving in camp in July. Beasley says, of course, that could change but he brings up some really interesting points that could allow the Dolphins to enter camp with all of their receivers and then choose the best of them to keep on the roster.

It’s a good article and breaks down the cap situation for each receiver. As he also points out, the Dolphins could restructure Byron Jones and save money. Regardless the $5 million or so the Dolphins are short on in cap space for rookie contracts is seemingly easy to manipulate.

Fans have been waiting for the axe to fall on Jakeem Grant, Albert Wilson, Allen Hurns or someone else. Miami will only keep six or seven receivers at most and the unit is deep with quality talent. We know that Jaylen Waddle, DeVante Parker, Preston Williams, and Will Fuller will take up four of those spots barring injury. Robert Foster is also likely to be on the roster which will leave a final spot or two for those mentioned above or one of the other younger receivers on the roster.

The Dolphins have plenty of pass-catchers and how they use them will be a lot of fun to watch unfold but getting that unit squared away will not be easy. Malcolm Perry and Lynn Bowden, Jr. provide the Dolphins versatility but do they really need both? Maybe, depends on how the team’s two-headed OC coaches view their value.

Either way, take a moment to read his article it has some interesting takes on the Dolphins receivers.
