The NFL will release the full 2021 regular-season schedule on Wednesday night but it is time to recap who the Miami Dolphins will play this season.

This year will see the first expansion of games since 1978 when the league expanded the season by two games from the 14 game format. This year, there will be one extra game in the league which means one extra Sunday of NFL football. The league will also retain the 7th playoff addition and only one bye per conference.

The Dolphins will host and play away against their AFC East rival Jets, Bills, and Patriots. Ideally, the Dolphins will get the Bills at home late in the season and avoid cold weather. The same could be said about the Jets and Patriots as well.

Miami will also play host to the New York Giants as their 17th opponent. Miami will play on the road for their 17th game next season. In addition, the Dolphins will host the Ravens, Panthers, Falcons, Colts, and Texans at Hard Rock Stadium.

On the road this year, the Dolphins will travel to New Orleans and Las Vegas where they won a close game late on a miracle throw by Ryan Fitzpatrick last year, they will also travel upstate to both Jacksonville and Tampa Bay before wrapping up the travel to Tennessee.

All in all the schedule is favorable. Two of Miami’s road games are in the state of Florida and the furthest west they travel will be to Las Vegas with New Orleans being a quick jump across the Gulf of Mexico.

Travel shouldn’t be an issue for the Dolphins this year unless they double up or triple up road games with Las Vegas in between.

Now, all we need are the dates and times of these games and that will come on Wednesday night.
