The Miami Dolphins won’t go to training camp until late July but that doesn’t mean they can’t work the cap situation now. These four players can help.

While Miami Dolphins fans await the release of the 2021 regular season schedule tonight, there are plenty of other things the Dolphins themselves need to do. For example, they have $12.9 million in cap space and need to sign their entire rookie class which will likely eat up all $12.9 million.

Naturally, the Dolphins will need to have spending money going into the season in case of injury or poor play. Many believe that Miami will save cap space when they start to pare down their roster ahead of final cuts in September but in reality, they can save more money by restructuring contracts and extending some veterans.

The question is who is worth an extension and who is not? Who is worth being restructured thus giving that player more guaranteed money? That is a question that Chris Grier and Brian Flores have to make and while they still have some time, the Dolphins shouldn’t wait until the last minute to make those new deals.

Freeing up space prior to camp will allow the Dolphins more flexibility should injuries occur of say a need at running back surfaces. Having the capital ahead of time allows the team to manage the roster better without having to make rash decisions. Here are four players that can help.
