For the second year in a row, Miami is opening against their division rival the New England Patriots.

Cam Newton is back in the driver’s seat for the Patriots after last year’s less than stellar performance. Because of the lack of longevity to the Newton signing, New England spent their first-round draft pick on Alabama Quarterback and lifelong Tua Tagovailoa comparison piece Mac Jones in the draft. Jones has a ton of potential, but I think Newton starts the year behind center in New England and keeps the job for as long as he is making quality plays (aka midway through the season).

Miami will look to shake off their recent history of weak starts to the season with a win at Foxborough against a totally revamped New England squad. The additions to this team were necessary since New England, as a team, struggled at times last season.

These additions, however, don’t necessarily mean that they are going to be successful right out of the gate.  This is something that I believe will play out in favor of the Dolphins.

New England has generally had Miami’s number when they play at home, but with their recent additions still needing some time to gel, Miami should be able to take this one on the road.

Dolphins record: 1-0
