Miami Dolphins: 7 rookie class predictions for the 2021 season
By Brian Miller
Did the Miami Dolphins add Mike Gesicki’s replacement in Hunter Long or his compliment?
Hunter Long could end up being the steal of this year’s draft. A top-quality tight-end prospect that didn’t get the attention that Kyle Pitts got. While the two were comparable during the season with Long actually having some better statistics in some categories, Pitts catapulted to the top after a stellar pro-day performance.
Tight end is one of the toughest positions to learn at the NFL level given the multitude of responsibilities and Long, I would expect to struggle at times but his route running is very good and his hands are very good as well.
The impact that Long will make for Miami will be in the Red Zone where he and Mike Gesicki could become a lethal tandem for Tua Tagovailoa. I expect Long to be on the field most of the plays inside the ten-yard line.
Prediction: Long will post similar numbers to Gesicki his rookie season that will make Miami’s decision on Gesicki’s future in Miami harder.
