Tua Tagovailoa: 5 QBs that improved from year one to year 2
By Brian Miller
Eli Manning has been a favorite of Miami Dolphins fans because he is a perfect 2-0 against Tom Brady and the Patriots in the Super Bowl.
Manning’s stellar career didn’t start off all that great. Another number one overall pick that refused to play for the team that drafted him, San Diego, Manning started his New York Giants career looking nothing like his big brother.
Manning started seven games his rookie season winning only one. He threw for 1,043 yards with six touchdowns and nine interceptions. His completion percentage was 48.2 and it looked like another bust. New York media wasn’t overly kind to him but that’s because it is New York.
Still, by today’s standards, Manning would have been expected to get cut. In his 2nd season, Manning started all 16 games and led the Giants to an 11-5 record. He threw for 3,762 yards and 24 touchdowns with 17 INTs.
Manning may never have lived up to the career that Peyton had but he was no slouch despite his production trailing off in the end. He spent 16 years with the Giants starting four games his final season and 15 games out of 15 in 2017. The rest of his career aside from his rookie season, Manning started all 16 games each year.
The debate on Manning’s future as a Hall of Famer will be debated but there is no doubting his consistent play or the jump he made in year two.
Manning: 7 starts, 1-6 record, 1,043 yards, 6 touchdowns, 11 interceptions. 48.2% completion rate.
Tagovailoa: 9 starts, 6-3 record, 1,814 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. He had a 64.1 % completion rate.
