Donovan McNabb can relate to Tua Tagovailoa’s plight as a rookie. His career looked ugly at first.

In 1999, the Philadelphia Eagles drafted McNabb second overall. His rookie season would see him start only six games. He would lead the team to victory only twice. He threw for less than 1,000 yards and eight touchdowns to seven interceptions.

McNabb would make the Pro Bowl in his second season and first as a full-time starter. In fact, he would make the Pro Bowl five years in a row. In his 2nd season, he led the Eagles to an 11-5 record. Over the next five years, he would complete two 11 win seasons, a 12 win season, and a 13 win season. He would lead the Eagles to a Super Bowl in 2004 losing to New England.

McNabb spent 11 years with the Eagles as the starter but like the others mentioned here, his rookie season that saw him only complete 49% of his passes

Donovan McNabb: 6 starts, 2-4 record, 948 yards, 8 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, and a 49.1% completion rate.

Tagovailoa: 9 starts, 6-3 record, 1,814 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. He had a 64.1 % completion rate.
