The Miami Dolphins are hosting OTAs today and Jaylen Waddle is working on his punt return prowess but apparently, that is news.

Several members of the local media have reported that Jaylen Waddle is returning punts in practice and that he has two drops so far. Wouldn’t that be muffed and not dropped? No matter how you want to classify it, Waddle mishandled two punts and that has led to some fun Twitter comments.

Others have taken a different look at why he is dropping punts today.

The reality is there is nothing to see here. It’s OTAs, several players are not in attendance and that isn’t drawing as much attention as Waddle. There was a report that I could not confirm stating that Waddle was seen limping around the field. Let’s address this for a second.

Waddle had a bad ankle injury last year so would it be surprising to see a bit of a limp after a few sessions of practice? Of course. His ankle injury required surgery so there should be some soreness.

That being said, it shouldn’t be something to worry about now, training camp may be a different story.

The Dolphins will wrap OTAs and return on June 7th, 8th, and 10th. Those are voluntary workouts. Miami’s mandatory OTA will begin on June 15th and run through the 17th. After that OTA session, the players will break until the end of July when they will return for training camp.
