Ryan Tannehill

The late season matchup between the Miami Dolphins and the Tennessee Titans would be a monster game on the schedule even if it weren’t for the quarterback history. Both teams will be looking to make a run at the playoffs, and losing a pivotal Week 17 game would likely be detrimental to those hopes. There could be division titles on the line by that point, and there will certainly be Wild Card implications.

As for the quarterback, you would assume that the Dolphins know Ryan Tannehill all too well. But they don’t know this Ryan Tannehill. The current version is far more accomplished than the one that spent the first six years of his career in Miami, having led the league in passer rating and qualifying for his first Pro Bowl two seasons ago, his first in Tennessee. Last year, he led the league in fourth quarter comebacks and game winning drives. After failing to play in the playoffs as a member of the Dolphins, Tannehill has led the Titans to the postseason in back-to-back years, including a division title and appearance in the AFC Championship game.

We’ll know far more about these teams as the season winds down. As great as Tannehill has been for Tennessee, it will be running back Derrick Henry that the defense will likely have to worry about. Henry generally gets stronger as the games and seasons pass, and the H-Train could be running at full steam against a potentially worn down Dolphins’ defense. Whatever the case may be, the game against the Titans will be of the utmost importance for Miami.
