Preston Williams has shown flashes for the Miami Dolphins but injuries are a concern. He could be a restricted free agent in 2021.

Williams is an exciting wide receiver to watch on the field but there is a very big problem with his game. He is consistently on the sideline injured and that has to change in 2021. Miami can’t invest a longer contract in a player that can’t stay on the field no matter the talent level he possesses.

In the case of Williams, the undrafted receiver has all the tools and a very good rapport with his teammates and QB Tagovailoa but investing in him now isn’t smart.

Working in Miami’s favor is that Williams will not be an unrestricted free agent in 2022. He will be a restricted free agent thus giving the Dolphins some cushion with the market. Miami will have to tender him but they will receive compensation should he sign elsewhere and they choose not to match.

With the Dolphins roster deep with WR talent, Williams needs to stay healthy and have a good season or the Dolphins may opt to part ways earlier.
