Do the Miami Dolphins have the best WR group in the AFC East?
#2. Miami Dolphins
The homer in me wants to put the Miami Dolphins in the number one spot, but there is too much riding on unproven players to be able to give them the crown as the best wide receiver group in the division.
On paper, the Dolphins wideouts look like they’ll be able to make some noise this season. Devante Parker has been a late bloomer and will likely be the go-to option of the group, and will lead the team in catches and yards barring an injury. Opposite of him will be rookie Jaylen Waddle out of Alabama, who Tagovailoa has familiarity with that the Dolphins are hoping translates over to the pro game. He has the speed to take the top off of the defense and the ability to separate, two things that Miami was missing badly last season.
But perhaps most importantly, the Dolphins signed veteran free agent Will Fuller who played for the Texans for the last five years. He has reliable hands and is known as a big play guy. His longest catch last season was a 77 yard bomb, compared to 47 yards as the longest catch by any Dolphin last year. He should be reliable in the slot in the short game as well, which will make one of the players further down the depth chart expendable.
One area that the Dolphins will excel above the rest of the AFC East will be their receiver depth. They currently have 11 players on the roster, but that will certainly be trimmed down by the start of the season. Having guys like Preston Williams, Albert Wilson, or Lynn Bowden Jr as your tail end wideouts gives Miami one of the deepest units in the entire league.
