The Detroit Lions are making moves but can Dan Campbell turn around the organization after so many have tried and failed?

The Lions would be a desolate landing spot for Howard and in a way, it would serve him right. He will get his money though.

The Lions have over $18 million in cap space and can make a move if they needed more. Last year the Lions were ranked dead last in secondary production according to PFF. They didn’t address the position in the draft until round three when they selected Ifeatu Melifonwu. They signed free agents Corn Elder and Quinton Dunbar during the FA period and in 2020, drafted CB Jeffrey Okudah with their first-round selection.

Okudah did not have a very good season in his rookie year. Howard would immediately become the best corner on the roster and someone that Okudah learns from. Detroit typically doesn’t make a lot of moves but they did ship Matt Stafford off this past off-season in a blockbuster trade.

The Lions own both of the Rams’ next two first-round draft picks coming in 2022 and 2023 and the Dolphins could ask for one of them in exchange for Howard. It would make sense for the Lions and could be the best the Dolphins could hope for. The Lions improve a putrid secondary with a ball-hawking corner and it won’t hurt them in terms of draft picks.
