The Miami Dolphins are a lot of things that other fans can poke fun at but they are one of the best in the NFL when it comes to their community.

Disaster struck Surfside Beach early Thursday when an apartment complex collapsed and now, the Miami Dolphins are once again lending a helping hand by providing provisions for the families at the “reunification center” and to help first responders.

This is a common thing for the Miami Dolphins as an organization. They are leaders in the community working tirelessly to bridge racial gaps and bring diverse people together for a common good. When tragedy strikes, they are often mobilized and ready to go.

This is a testament to owner Stephen Ross who helped drive the Dolphins community outreach. The Miami Dolphins “Special Teams” program provides relief all over the neighboring counties and not just Miami itself. These are events that many of our former contributors and I have taken part in over the years.

Seeing the Dolphins step again is not a surprise and was not an “if” but more of a “when” would they get there to help out. You too can be involved, simply contact the Miami Dolphins Foundation to find out how you can join in the charitable events that happen all year.  Email them at Volunteers@Dolphins.com or call 305-943-7900.

In addition, you can participate or help during the annual DCC event. The Dolphins Cancer Challenge invites you to take part in three-county cycling and walking event that has raised over $27.5 million for cancer research at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center with every penny going to cancer research.  You can visit DolphinsCancerChallenge.com for more information.
