This is a bit of a long shot here and there is no doubt about that. But, Tua Tagovailoa might just surprise us this season.

Selected with the fifth overall pick in the 2020 draft, Tagovailoa was brought in to be the franchise quarterback for this team for the next decade or more. After a rookie season that saw him benched multiple times juxtaposed with some strong performances over the course of the year, Tagovailoa is expected to make a considerable jump in his play and his effectiveness off the field.

The Dolphins front office made it a point to surround Tagovailoa with some considerable upgrades to his skill positions to add a bit more explosiveness to this roster. Tagovailoa has one of the stronger receiver corps in the NFL with DeVante Parker, Will Fuller, Jaylen Waddle, Mike Gesicki, and Preston Williams. He has two serviceable running backs in Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed. He has a young, yet promising offensive line that could take a big lead in 2021. If most of these pieces play to their potential, this offense could be dangerous with Tagovailoa at the helm.

There really is no excuse for Tagovailoa to not succeed, and I envision a scenario where he surpasses expectations for this season as the true starting quarterback on this roster and with a true offseason of preparation.

To make the All-Pro roster, Tagovailoa will have to outperform some of the best quarterbacks the NFL has seen for a long time. Is that a hard thing for him to do? Absolutely. Is it totally impossible? Absolutely not.
