Jaylen Waddle could chase Miami Dolphins rookie receiver records
By Brian Miller
Jaylen Waddle was the Miami Dolphins’ top choice in the NFL Draft taking him with the sixth overall pick. What can he do as a rookie?
History can be fun and the question is can Waddle, in his rookie season, make a dent in the Dolphins history books and where might he make that impact?
Throughout the Dolphins’ history, Miami has drafted only six WRs in the first round of the draft, including Waddle. The others, O.J. McDuffie, 25th overall, Randall Hill, 23rd overall, Yatil Green, 15th overall, DeVante Parker, 14th overall, and Ted Ginn, Jr. taken 9th overall.
The team has only drafted 65 total WRs in their history in any round. Waddle doesn’t have to do a lot to make the rookie record books but he won’t be chasing his fellow first-rounders. He will mostly be chasing Chris Chambers, a 2nd round pick.
Here is who holds records that Waddle could chase this season.
- TDs in a season – 18 held by Mark Clayton 1984
- TDs in a game – 4 by 3 players
