Miami Dolphins rookie outlook for the 2021 season
By Nick Belotto
Late round selections are usually not going to be making significant impacts in their rookie seasons based on the fact that they usually need some time to develop and work on a game that can be effective at the NFL level. Miami’s two 7th round selections fall into this category.
Larnel Coleman’s selection was a decent depth pick, if he can develop. I can’t imagine Colman being anything more than a backup this season, barring injuries to a number of players on the line. In order to improve on that,
He has a ton of upside, so I can definitely see him on the roster post-training camp with some rare playing time at the end of the year.
2021 season predictions: 0 starts, potential game time reps towards the end of the season
Doaks is a bit interesting to predict. The Dolphins have Myles Gaskin as their starter, Salvon Ahmed who proved to be a serviceable option at running back and newly signed Malcolm Brown on the roster. That might mean that Doaks is on the bottom end of the totem pole to start training camp.
That doesn’t mean that Doaks won’t see some real action on the field and it wouldn’t shock me if he rises above Brown on the depth chart at some point in the season. Even if he does, I can’t imagine him seeing considerable game time, but that could change as injuries set in to this group.
2021 season predictions: 0 starts, 35 attempts, 200 yards
